today is China’s National Day, marking the 60th anniversary of the PRC.

there have been a lot more flags waving around and decorations leading up to this (we saw a big topiary “60” carving).  it’s been raining all day, so our view of any festivities or celebrations basically looked like this:


watching the parade in Beijing from the comforts of our couch.

looking forward to this next week, though, as luke has the whole week off because of this holiday.  aside from Chinese New Year’s, this first week of October is the longest vacation period for most people in China.
