a walk in the woods

after a couple weeks of rain, it was nice to make it out for a walk on a clear morning.  somehow, the sunlight feels particularly enchanting after the rains… which makes me not mind the rain so much after all.

November 21, 2011 - 11:55 am lily - love the pics. can't believe how big she is now! miss you guys!

girliness | shanghai family photographer

spent a fun-filled morning with these kids.  this is a special sneak peek i know their mom will appreciate.  i was especially looking forward to this session when i learned they were a family of three girls like ours!  perhaps we will get to have one big girly playdate sometime.
love all those gorgeous deep brown eyes.  each girl has her own distinct personality which keeps it interesting!

a bug’s life

my bugs’ lives – stages that are fleeting and ever-changing into something beautiful.

hope you had a happy halloween.

December 8, 2011 - 11:23 am carol - so cute!!!!

November 2, 2011 - 10:36 am manmei chuang - 好可愛喔!!

on the move

they say time goes faster with each kid.  is it also true that each kid goes faster?  because my baby was up and crawling on her hands and knees during her seventh month, much earlier than my other two.  and she skipped the army crawling stage altogether.  i think she just wants to keep up with her two older sisters.  and here i am, just wanting things to slooow down a bit so i can take it all in before it (they) passes me by.  nonetheless, here is my baby on the move — not so much a newborn anymore.

footnote (behind the scenes): Isabella wasn’t the only one on the move that day as these photos were taken by me while rollerblading. sometimes the photographer is perhaps the more interesting subject to photograph.

December 8, 2011 - 11:24 am carol - that's hilarious! how were you rollerblading and still able to get clear shots? man. wish we lived in the same city. then i could 'learn'.

one

a couple weeks ago, my sweet niece turned one! (meant to get this post up earlier)
she exudes happiness that is contagious — and goodness, look at those eyes…
thankful for the time we got to spend together over the summer and the special bond that is forming between her and my girls!  happy birthday serena!

October 20, 2011 - 12:51 pm Patti Block - Since I have known you...you are the BEST! AWESOME pics!

October 20, 2011 - 9:40 am Jenny - Yay! Thanks for posting! :)

sunny delight

a relaxing sunny morning, visiting relatives, picking oranges from their backyard, the bright colors, and a cute model = inspired.

all smiles | jiaxing newborn photographer

This precious baby was all smiles for me during this newborn session.  Hard to believe he is about to celebrate being 100 days old.  And he is still as smiley as ever.

While my previous post was of a newbie who arrived just after our return from the US, this little spud arrived just before our trip to the US.  Another case of good timing – I am so glad I was able to capture him before leaving China!

london | shanghai newborn photographer

Had the privilege of photographing this handsome young fellow last weekend.  His timing was perfect — first, arriving right after my return to China, so I could catch him at 11 days old.  Then his parents said he was up quite a bit the night before.  Perhaps not so fun for mom and dad, but it allowed him to sleep beautifully through his first photo shoot, and allowed me to capture everything right before a big thunderstorm hit!
And I love the little mohawk.  So nice to meet and spend time with you and your family, London.

September 2, 2011 - 1:46 pm Rosa - Love the sneak preview! So excited to see the rest. Thanks again, Anita!

family portrait

Yes, it has been a while.  Life has been full.  Not sure I am ready for summer to end.  We spent the past couple months in the US with family and friends.  We traveled to the West Coast, East Coast, South, and Midwest.  Perhaps a bit ambitious with three young ones – but we survived and had a lot of great times.  So keeping up with this blog has taken the sidelines to just keeping up with life.

But we are long overdue for an update.  So thought I’d start with an updated family portrait, now that we’ve grown by an extra two feet.

November 2, 2011 - 12:13 am Jenny Liu - Excellent ! Not only the picture is so creative, but also can feel the love surrounding 5 of you, good effort!

August 31, 2011 - 12:02 pm lily - love this portrait! nice choice of clothes, too.

August 31, 2011 - 9:17 am joanne - LOVE it. Love the new chunky two legs!

August 28, 2011 - 10:03 am Jodi - what a good picture :-p

living on the edge

a partial glimpse at my “kaykay”
fearless, explorer, determined, active, resourceful…

whenever we walk this stretch in our neighborhood, she exclaims “钓鱼! 钓鱼!” (fishing! fishing!)  we find a fallen willow tree branch, she takes it and proceeds to “fish”.  (thankfully) she has yet to fall into the water, but has no qualms about going right up to the edge.  similarly, i admire the way she goes at most things full force, with no fear.

on a more superficial note, this was also the first time i got her hair up into pigtails.  a new look for her.  =)

May 16, 2011 - 10:15 pm Jenny - love the one where she's squatting and looking up... and the pigtails! waiting for the time when I can start "girlifying" serena's hair :)

May 13, 2011 - 8:39 am popo - Love that fearless and exploratory personality. She definitely holds her own ground. Yep for the pigtails !!
