darlings, dimples, and a dog | michigan family photographer

i got to meet this family for a session a couple weeks ago. it was the first time meeting them, but as soon as i saw them, i thought they are truly a lovely and beautiful family.

i know mom has been eager to see some sneak peeks from their session… so for your patience, L, i’ll post a bunch of images!

Mom was worried that we wouldn’t be able to capture Creighton’s dimples, as he can be kind of shy (see that shyness in this look – or maybe he’s just pondering who this girl is with the big camera pointed at him)…

…but it wasn’t long at all before those fantastic dimples came out!  And I couldn’t get enough of little Maren’s gorgeous eyes and all her smiles.  Maren couldn’t get enough of her own shoes… a true girl already.

then we got the whole family together (can’t leave out the dog, of course).  glee!

and i’ll end with a few tender moments.

so nice meeting you all!  can’t wait to share the rest of your collection with you.

trip to the dia

taking advantage of grandparents who love to babysit, my husband and i went on an extended date this weekend.  and part of it included going to the DIA.  it’s a great place to just walk around and soak up some ambience and art… even if you’re not artistically inclined.

i think my favorite spot is this little courtyard (kresge court).  i think i would be content to just come to the DIA just to sit here the whole time and maybe have a drink or a snack. if you go there, you’d understand what i mean. it’s charming.  i think i long for more spaces like this to go to in our new place of residence – peaceful, clean, inspiring.

and normally i am one to be hiding on the other side of the camera, but for the sake of this little one in my tummy, we spent some time outside the DIA documenting his/her 6 month mark.  can’t believe there’s only 3 months to go!

for those of you in the Detroit area, you should totally go visit the DIA.  They also have the Norman Rockwell exhibit open right now.  And you can even get free general admission at your local library through this awesome program.

Sara T - I didn’t know you were expecting Anita! Congrats!

cornelia - wow the pictures of the DIA courtyard are definitely beautiful!! =) i did that once or twice in college. just going to the mfa and sitting there to drink in the beauty =)

family fun | michigan child photographer

Here is another sneak peek from one of my michigan sessions.
Took lots of pictures of these kids that day, but the family shots stood out to me in particular.  Can you tell this family is a lot of fun?  They always keep me laughing.

Aww such brotherly love… and the little one has grown up quite a bit since his newborn session.

On a side note… for you michigan residents, looks like we’ll be around for a good three weeks longer.  So i may be open to taking a couple more sessions… if you’re interested, let me know soon!  And for you non-michigan people… come visit us!  haha.

cathy - omg – look at those cheeks! too cute!

jenn - i love the picture of the two brothers 🙂

miss addie | michigan child photographer

Sorry for the quietness on this blog… It’s been a full and fun few weeks being back in the States.  I was planning to just hold off on blogging until we went back to China.  But our stay has been unexpectedly extended by a few weeks (!)… and so we’re still here in Michigan and my blog is meanwhile beckoning me to give it a little more attention.

To make up for the neglect, here are several images from one of my sessions during my time here in Michigan.

This face may look familiar as I have had the pleasure of photographing miss addie several times now.

Though she is more grown up now, some things never change.  This little girl has always been on the move (as so fittingly captured in the imge to the right)

… and she has always been a nature girl, with a special interest in putting objects like pinecones in her mouth (except now that mischievous smile comes out more as she knows that perhaps she shouldn’t be doing this)

But one big change is coming up, as miss addie is about to become a big sister, with the newest addition expected to arrive any day now!

L – it was great seeing you guys.  can’t wait to share the rest with you!

carollai - i love it! 🙂 do you love your new cam? 🙂

joanne - love the gorgeous blue eyes

Sara T - Awesome job Anita! I want to save up to have you take pictures of Josh next time you are in the US.
